Aboriginal Home Visiting Training

The AHSABC recieved $100,000 from the Ministry of Children and Family Development to research a home visiting training program and implement the training of a home visiting training program.  The target population to be served by this grant are the Aboriginal Infant Develoment Programs, Aboriginal ECE programs and Aboriginal Head Start.  We struck a Home Visiting Advisory committee comprised primarily of front line workers, they have been instrumental in guiding our work and selecting from the Literature Review the Home Visiting model we purchased.  In the end, we contracted with Growing Great Kids Inc. to provide our training.  We have provided 4 seperate trainings to May 11th; these include: Vancouver, Courtenay, Prince George and Kelowna; with 60 participants being trained to date.  We are hoping to provide one more training session in mid June.
