Eagle's Nest Aboriginal Head Start - Vancouver

The Eagles Nest Head Start program opened in East Vancouver in 1998. Our Host Agency is the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society.

Our centre is very busy with 3 ECEs, an FIW, a cook, bus driver and coordinator, along with practicum students and volunteers.

We have a great Parent Elder Advisory Committee and two faithful Elders who teach Coast Salish songs and dancing, as well as carving, drum-making and smudging.

Our children have performed at many significant events, such as National Aboriginal Day at the Museum of Anthropology, Provincial AHS Conferences, West Coast Night at the Friendship Centre, Elders Gatherings and a community fundraiser at St. Michael's Church on East Broadway. It's quite an achievement for them and brings awareness of our wonderful program to the public.
