Job Posting: Early Childhood Educators, Assistants, and Substitutes

Location: 1769 Highway 33 East

Wage: ECE’s – $32.50-$34.00 (includes wage enhancement)

ECEA’s – $20.00 per hour

 

The Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society is seeking Early Childhood Educators, Assistants, and Substitutes to join our team at skemxist sncecmitln Aboriginal Head Start Center, located in Black Mountain!

 

About the Role:

Practicing with a trauma-informed lens, our ECEs will implement culturally rooted programming while supporting the overall well-being of Indigenous children in our infant toddler and 3–5-year-old classrooms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for young children.
  • Incorporate Indigenous language, culture, and traditions into daily programming.
  • Support the six components of Aboriginal Head Start: Culture & Language, Education & School Readiness, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Parent & Family Involvement, and Social Support.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that foster emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families and the community.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports in compliance with licensing regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Early Childhood Education Certification(s) (ECE, IT/SN & ECEA)
  • Current ECE License to Practice in B
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and ways of knowing (strong asset)
  • Experience working with Indigenous families and communities (preferred)
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Current Food Safe Level 1 Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
