Position Title: Early Childhood Educator or Assistant
Position location: Chilliwack, BC
Hourly Wage: $25.00 – $27.78 based on experience + $6 wage enhancement (if qualified)
Work Term: Casual/On-Call *no guaranteed hours*
Start Date: August 2026

Smameletawtxw “Little Pebbles” AHS is seeking an ECE or ECEA who will work closely with parents, Elders, ECEA’s and the Program Coordinator to promote a welcoming, supportive, safe environment for parents/caregivers and their children. The ECE will develop, implement and supervise activities in a culturally supportive environment to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social needs of the children within the program while establishing routines for children, providing them with positive guidance and building their self-esteem. 

General Requirements:

  • Valid ECE or ECEA Certificate
  • Criminal Record Review successfully completed 
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certificate 
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length
  • Knowledge of Indigenous history and culture or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of AHS principles, values and guidelines or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and providing opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of the children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers, Elders, and community service providers working with children 
  • Help serve snacks and lunch to the children
  • Help clean/sanitize the toys & centre
  • Report any unsafe conditions, practises or injuries to the program coordinator as soon as possible
  • All other duties as assigned
