Halu, my name is Lauren Ajiokak Kadlun - Jones. I am a mom of 4. I am a community support worker as well as an ECEA. I currently live, work and play in Secwepemc Territory in Clearwater BC. I Am very grateful to be here.
I am originally from Ikaluktutiak, “Good fishing place” (Cambridge Bay, Nunavut) my mom being Copper Inuit and my dad Polish & American. Mom went to residential school at age 6 and dad went to Indian day school. I am the daughter of 2 survivors and I want to carry on my culture and be a strong role model for my children and others around me.
I want to promote a strong learning environment that doesn’t tolerate racism or prejudice. My mom is teaching me our language because we live so far away this has been harder for me to keep up. I am so looking forward to our cultural connections and quana for having me. I will be sharing a craft that has animals that are harvested for food and furs as well as their Inuinnaqtun names.
