We are honoured to live, learn, play and work on the unceded traditional territories of Southern Dakelh and Tshilqot’in, hosted by Echen Healing Society in Quesnel.
Little Chiefs daycare provides a safe and culturally appropriate environment that encourages the growth of our “little warriors in the making.” Our guiding value is that we believe children are a gift from the Creator.
Families are Indigenous and Métis, representing a diverse range of nations. Languages used in the classroom are Chilcotin and Carrier.
Children are taught about regalia and proudly wear their regalia while enjoying drumming, dancing and singing. Children learn about the drum and how to take care of the drum.
Learning our culture enhances their self-esteem and our children have pride in who they are as Indigenous people.
Elders and Cultural Teachers visit to smudge the room, teaching children to smudge and sharing Friday storytelling circles. One of our Elders is also an ECE. Elders also make Bannock and other Indigenous foods for the children, which they love!
