Nəc̓elŋəxʷ (pronounced nuts-el-nguhw) is hosted by Hulitan Family and Community Services Society– located next to a forest with beautiful trails and streams to explore, on Lək̓ʷəŋən territory, in Colwood. The team are committed to creating an environment where all children feel loved and nourished, have a sense of belonging, and positive cultural identity.

Most of the families are Coast Salish, or Métis. Opening in September 2024, the focus is on getting to know each other and building a community. The families love spirit days, and the children love to explore the forest and play with bikes and water.

Languages shared in the program include: Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwak´wala, and SENĆOŦEN, and the program is working towards Lək̓ʷəŋən as well.  Culture in our program looks like building relationships, exposure to language, singing and drumming, connecting with families.

2025 plans include an Elder coming to teach and share drumming and singing, another Elder who will be sharing stories, and monthly visits from cultural teachers. Nəc̓elŋəxʷ has a teacher who bakes and teaches sign enhanced language. The location provides opportunities to learn about the forest and plant medicine nearby.

We are a trauma informed program and are connected to all the wrap around service that Hulitan Family and Community Services Provides.
